I saw them too.

My cat was nowhere to be seen. I got out of bed, feeling more sore than usual, and tried to turn on the light. No luck.

“I didn’t think to think that the power couldn’t be out, because I’d just been looking at the clock-radio. It just didn’t cross my mind.

“All I had to see my way around was the moonlight coming through the gauzy drapes, and it seemed very bright. Was there a full moon that night? Whatever it was, it made my own home look unfamiliar. The areas that were lit up looked too bright, they were hard to focus on, and the places that weren’t lit up were just pitch black. I felt like I was walking through pieces of my home, picked up and set somewhere else with incomplete knowledge of the original design.

“Before I reached the door of my bedroom, I was aware of an almost imperceptible dimming of the brightness. Without having seen anything, I instinctively knew that something had walked in front of my window. I say ‘walked’, but it’s on the second floor, so ‘flew’ or ‘glided’ or ‘passed’ may be closer to the truth.

“I tried to turn to see, but doing so gave me the most intense vertigo that I’ve ever felt in my life, even after that experience at online casino USA. My vision blurred and it was all I could do to get my trembling body back to the bed.

“I don’t know how the next few hours were spent, honestly, but I woke in the morning feeling groggy but not unhappy. Whatever had happened, it was unusual to the point of fantastic, but there was no sense of threat or danger. My cat was asleep on my head as usual.”

More?

“But getting off in Utah was a drag. It was cold as hell, for one thing. At night the stars were so clear that it felt like they were little ice crystals freezing everything under them. And this was in late June.

“So I made the dumbass move of trying to hitch a ride down to Vegas, maybe get a job at an online casino USA for traveling money. It should have been a quick trip, but nobody was picking me up and the walking was horrible. I ended up stuck in some little town near the Utah border, and that was when I kinda lost track of time.

“Next thing I knew, it was the end of July and I was still there. Weird people, too. I hard all sorts of strange stories. There was this one rumor about magical tablets and a really expensive pearl or something like that.

“Well, I finally got fed up and took a bus back home. Just in time for hurricane season, great.”
